Moloka'i by Alan Brennert

I read this book back in January and I really liked it.  It was at many times a very sad book.  However, I do highly recommend reading it!

Fire

This is the companion book to Gracelings.  I can't say that I loved it but I didn't hate it.  I'm beginning to think this author is a feminist or at least has some strong opinions in that area.  Her main characters are always anti-marriage and kids.  Character's are suppose to grow and change into something better in the end and I was really hoping that in Gracelings she would but she never did.  In this book I think the character did but  you don't know 100%.

This book was darker then the first book and there was a LOT of casual sex.  I kept thinking the characters were older then they were and picturing like 35-40 year old instead of 15-20.

This book is for young adults and I don't think it sends a very good messages toward teens.  I wouldn't let mine read it.  This is just my opinion

Book Club Book for August

I finished reading the book "Graceling".  Yep it was a really fast read and I couldn't put it down till I finished it.  I really liked it but this was my kind of book; fantasy, fighting, romance all in one. If that's your kind of book then you should enjoy it too!

Where She Went

Over the weekend I read this book.  It's the sequel to the book If I Stay.  I enjoyed the sequel more then the first book.  It's comes from the boyfriend Adam's perspective 3 years later.

Book Club Book for April

I finished reading this book.  It was a very quick and easy read.  I thought it was good, not great, but good.  It's suppose to be for teens but it said the F-word a lot.  I hate when books swear.  Also the kids our in high school and the girls parents are "cool".  They let her boyfriend sleep over, her mom gives her money to start a condemn supply, and she can practically do whatever she wants.   Not the best message for teens.  I know there are parents out there that are like that but most I'd like to think aren't.   I think it sends the wrong message to teens.

I've noticed that in books, movies, and tv shows that all these high school kids really live like they are college students.  Why don't they just make them college age were this behavior is more true.  It's been 10 years since I was in high school but I'm pretty sure it hasn't changed that much.

Pride & Prejudice

I know that I have been neglecting this blog this past week.  My reason for it is due to Pride & Prejudice.  I have never read this book or seen the movie before.  Of course I've heard of it.  My mother bought me all of Jane Austin's books for Christmas and I decided I must finally read Pride & Prejudice.  I've heard so much about it and how much everyone enjoys it.

There has not been a book since Twilight that I have obsessed over so much.  I couldn't put it down and every spare moment that I had I devoted to reading this book.  I felt a little inferior reading this.  They spoke so different back then.  There were many times I had to re-read sentences to understand what they were saying.  I also felt as though I needed a dictionary to look up the true meaning of the words.

Do you ever feel bad upon finishing a book because you don't want it to end?  That's how I felt about this book and I wanted to watch every movie made about it.  I just finished the BBC version.  Not the best acting but it was made in 1980 and it was very much to the book.

I recommend if you haven't read it go read it!

Were have I been?

Sorry I took a long weekend.  I wish I could say I went somewhere cool and had a very excited weekend but the truth is I didn't.  I've been reading my book club book The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.  I LOVED this book!  I highly recommend you go out immediately and read it yourself if you haven't already.  I loved how it was written and I now would like to go live on Guernsey or at least visit.

Book Club Book for March

I forgot to mention that this months book is "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows.

So far I'm really enjoying it.  It's written entirely as letters back and forth between people, very different.

Weight Loss Struggles

I'm a mother of two and my baby is nearly 9 months old.  I have had the hardest time loosing my baby weight.  I still have about 15 lbs to go and it's so frustrating.  With my son the weight just flew off and I ate chocolate milk shakes every night.  With my daughter I have worked really hard to get the weight off.  I run 3 x a week plus go to the gym and I've stopped eating sugar, but still the weight remains.

While watching Rachel Ray this morning (Son at preschool and daughter napping). Alison Sweeney was on the show talking about her new bookI'm a long time Days fan.  I was thinking that maybe I should pick this book up and see if it can teach me any secrets.  I think Alison looks amazing after having her two kids.
